Profile:

Meet UrShuri — a name that may confuse outsiders, but for those who know the tangled, mystical feline lineage of the Ozarks Church of Nature and Magical Food Forest, it makes perfect sense. You see, UrShuri isn’t just a cat — he might be Uri returned, reincarnated into a stronger, sleeker, more defiant version of his former self. The name says it all: You Sure Are Uri — and nobody argues with it anymore. (For reference, here’s a photo of the original Uri when he came to us.)

Back in his youth, UrShuri was the alley cat archetype. Scrappy. Unapologetic. Chronically unavailable. He would vanish for days, possibly on a vision quest, possibly raiding unattended food bowls down the road — no one knows for sure. What is known: he had little interest in familial obligations. His sisters — Cali, Pele, Panda Girl — barely got a head nod. His mother Venus? Tolerated at best. And like his likely father Uri before him (a stray with a tragic but noble arc), UrShuri ran wild and ran free.

He even developed a complicated and combative relationship with his own son, Caspurr, who recently and tragically passed on June 5, 2025 (unrelated to UrShuri)

Theirs was a tale worthy of a feline Greek tragedy — pride, power, and unresolved paw-slap duels. Caspurr was one of five of UrShuri’s children, all now gone except Marmalade, a playful soul who resembles her father in appearance only.

Maybe it was age. Maybe it was grief. Maybe the reincarnation loop finally completed a full rotation. But now? UrShuri has mellowed. The street fighter is mostly retired. The snarl has faded into a slow blink. Confrontations are rare, and his presence has become steady, grounding, even gentle. A once-savage boy now turned calm-eyed observer of the family he once roamed past without a second thought.

UrShuri looks every bit the part of the wandering prince turned weary sage. He watches over Marmalade now — a quiet protector, perhaps a little more invested this time.

UrShuri is many things:

  • A comeback story with whiskers
  • A legacy tangled in love, loss, and late-night scuffles
  • The Uri that came back stronger
  • A flawed but evolving feline
  • A beautiful boy who’s learning to stay

Long may he nap, reflect, and pass down the softer version of his wild spirit — UrShuri, the once-wild heir now transformed into something closer to peace.
